Our Search & Rescue teams are composed of highly trained and dedicated individuals that volunteer their time and expertise to assist local emergency services in finding the lost and missing. The team responds to a variety of incidents, from overdue hikers on the Santa Paula Punch Bowl trail to evidence searches for the sheriff's office. Slaughter said the Upper Ojai team is the busiest of the three, with about eight calls for service per month so far this year. The Fillmore Mountain Search and Rescue team has jurisdiction over the northeastern half of the county, while the East Valley Search and Rescue Team covers the Santa Monica Mountains and the southern coast. It covers the mountain areas of Santa Paula, Ojai and Ventura. The Upper Ojai team is one of three mountain search and rescue units overseen by the sheriff's office. We respond to nearly 60 searches a year for lost elderly, children and hikers. We provide life saving assistance at no cost to the citizens and law enforcement of Vermont & New Hampshire. Founded in 1981, New England K-9 Search & Rescue is an all volunteer wilderness K-9 search & rescue organization of 15-20 members.
